New apartment community planned for former site of the Phillips Old Colony House and Freeport Tavern in Dorchester
CAMDEN, N.J., September 10, 2019 (Newswire.com) - The Michaels Organization and The Phillips Group have formed a partnership to develop the 1.81-acre site located at 780 Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester. Planning is in the early stages for a mid-rise apartment community featuring studios, one- and two-bedroom units.
The site was originally home to Phillips Old Colony House and Freeport Tavern, which closed in January 2017 and is currently being utilized as off-site parking by an auto dealership.
“Our goals are to revitalize the site with an attractive asset that will complement the neighborhood and also provide a more affordable option for quality living in Dorchester as compared to current market rents in the Boston area,” said Jay Russo, vice president of development in Michaels' Boston office.
An informational meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Ramada by Wyndham Boston at 800 Morrissey Boulevard. Neighbors and local stakeholders are invited to attend and participate in an open dialogue about the development.
